Despite “savoring” in the title, this blog is not about food. However food is one of many aspects of life that can be savored, so today I’m writing about one of my favorite meals.
For dinner one night this week we had pasta with pesto and a plate of sliced tomatoes seasoned with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, kosher salt, fresh ground pepper, and basil leaves.
I made the pesto with basil a local farmer had picked that morning. The tomatoes were fresh from our garden. The best-ever olive oil came from Vieri, owner of a Tuscan villa where we stayed a few years ago.
Yum! Yum! Yum! As I ate, I savored each bite, nearly humming to my food. I couldn’t think of a meal I would enjoy more.
A small moment. Made bigger by paying attention, by allowing myself the experience of pleasure, and by savoring the experience.
