Growing older may be more enjoyable than you think.
In its November & December 2009 issue, AARP magazine reported on a Pew Research Center study of Americans 65 and older. (Don’t stop reading if you’re not 65 yet! This peek at the future is reassuring for those of us in the neighborhood of 60 so please read on.)
What did the people say they liked about growing older?
52% — More travel
59% — More respect
59% — Less stress
65% — More time for hobbies and interests
70% — More time with family
And 45% of Americans 75+ said their life turned out better than expected.
I love finding information that encourages, reassures, and inspires us about the years ahead. We’ve heard so many negative messages about aging in our culture that it’s helpful to feed our mind as many positive ones as we can.

Finding what inspires you and giving to others. At age 69 I just started teaching Arthritis warm water classes and water aerobics. Seeing the changes in other’s physical abilities and mental attitudes is amazing to me. Not only am I giving to others I am giving to myself. May you all find what gives to your heart and well being.
Anita, thks for sharing this wisdom: “Finding what inspires you and giving to others.” How lovely you’ve found a way of giving that is good for you and for others!
