Life After 60 Isn’t All Downhill

by Bonnie

Life after 60 isn’t the non-stop bliss some of the new lifestyle ads try to portray. But there is still a lot to look forward to.

According to Margaret Wente, who is just about to turn 60,

“It’s not the extra wrinkles in your neck. At 50, you’re still in mid-career, your parents are probably still around, and you can’t imagine any other life. You figure the next decade will be pretty much like the last one. At 60, you know it won’t. Time is getting limited, and 70 is next.”

Wente goes on to share the fabulous story of her cousin Jane who is still living a great life long after 60. Jane is inspirational for those of us who want to thoroughly enjoy ouselves at 60 and beyond.

Life is much different now for those in their 60’s than it was in our parent’s generation. Women everywhere are struggling to figure out what the new 60 looks like. I was happy to discover your blog and look forward to reading your thoughts.

Hi, Dorothy! Thanks for stopping by & adding your comments. You’re right that things are different for us than for our parents. Without many role models, we’re making it up as we go. I think we’ll be seeing more and more great examples of women doing fabulous stuff at 60 & beyond. I’m glad you found your way to my blog and hope you’ll come back often to read and to add your ideas and experiences to the mix.
