We choose how to live our lives.
Yes, some women are in exceedingly difficult situations that limit their choices. But for most of us, our choices are limited only by the battle inside ourselves.
“You can either waltz boldly onto the floor of life and live the way you know your spirit is nudging you to, or you can sit quietly by the wall and recede in the shadows of fear and self-doubt.”
Oprah
Which do you choose? A bold waltz or sitting quietly on life’s sidelines?

It seems to me that part of the difficulty determining the life each of us wants is that we never really know if our battle is outside us (with the limitations of circumstance) or within us.
I personally vacillate between thinking I have to take care of the material circumstances first, then worry about what it is I want, or viewing that as an excuse to let myself off the hook and feeling I must decide right now, otherwise I am avoiding life.
I believe that many people, especially busy working people, face the swing between these two states of mind.
Hi, Lise! Thanks for your comment.
I do think for most of us most of the time the issues are more internal than external. That said, I don’t advocate being foolish about the material circumstances. Perhaps it’s not either/or.
What if the question were . . . . How can we take care of ourselves AND do what we truly want to do with our lives? I’m not saying this is always easy and it seems worth focusing on this, rather than vacillating or giving up entirely.
