thank you. i was just thinking of trying a physical job that i would like and for which i am qualified but the first thing i thought was "you are too old to do that job" (i am 59 and i am in good shape, not a marathon runner, and a bit chubby, but i can keep up with the best of most of them! i am able to get around very well and help out in the hospital with some of the most trying of patients--this is a hospital job that requires transporting patients around the various units, part time anyhow, to get started and i stopped doing just computer work recently due to just too much sitting (i could tell i was becoming sedentary, aching legs, etc.), so i am doing patient care work now again, and very happy to be doing physical work again! i am not too old and i know how to do it (not just transporting but other patient care for which i am trained and state certified. so i am going to apply after reading this website. thanks again. and i am going to go for my psychiatric patient care again, too!

Hi, Barbara! Nice to see you here. You're a good example of someone shifting their attention to solutions rather than dwelling in the problems. It seems to me that would be challenging given your visual impairment & it's great to hear that you're able to do it. Good for you!

Being visually impaired (totally blind) there are many things I either cannot do or must do differently. If I dwelt on the negatives I wouldn't get anything done. My ssolution is to find alternative ways of doing things, or exchanging either task or goods with others for their help.
