In the past few weeks I’ve:
- Attended a family reunion
- Spent the day in eastern Washington biking, river rafting, and connecting with family and friends
- Coached some of my favorite clients
- Sat with Denny, my husband, on the bulkhead above our beach, drinking wine, eating Manchego cheese, chatting, and savoring the beauty surrounding us
- Had dinner and good conversation with a friend at Fino’s, a lovely waterfront restaurant
- Attended a splendid concert at the Bellingham Music Festival
All these experiences lit me up; energized and enlivened me. I enjoyed myself, laughed, relaxed, and felt a deep sense of well-being.
This is such a simple and obvious way to a life that you love — do more of what you love!
Yet it can be so easy to forget or ignore this in the midst of the hubbub of life, the routines, the “shoulds” and the “to do’s.”
What about you? What do you love? How can you do more of that? Click on Comments below and tell us.

Hi Bonnie,
I found your site doing a search with the keywords “vibrant living after 60.” I’m going to be 69 in August (I’m a Lioness!
) and in the process of creating a new chapter in my life for the next 20 years with an internet blog/affiliate business in mind. I am looking for a good domain name and trying different keywords.
I love your suggestion to make a Lights List and to send it to you. So I did, and here it is:
My Lights List:
Music and songs to dance and sing to: Especially: Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody; Fleetwood Mac’s The Chain; Super Tramp’s Please tell me who I am, and Don’t you Look at My Girlfriend.
Fun, fun and so inspiring to make me feel so alive when I put them on and dance my heart away. I need to remember to do this every day. It’s so energizing!
Songs to sing with: Tracy Chapman’s Gimme one Reason to Stay Here
Eartha Kitt’s Old Fashioned Girl
Gnarles Barkley’s Crazy
Laughing at myself and the absurdities of life happening around me
Finding people of like mind, sites of like interest, on the internet (like you!)
Sharing new discoveries, books, and insights with others of like mind (which are few and far between, but that’s probably because I’m such a recluse when not working. I still have a job working as a caregiver in an assisted living facility.)
Inspiring books like “Ask and it is Given”
Making people laugh – entertaining them with funny stories and silly facial and physical expressions
Writing and sharing my thoughts and ideas for better communication and problem solving at work
Driving my car at sunset, on a gorgeous autumn day after the rush hour
Thunder and lightning storms with heavy rain pouring down outside my window
Big snow and ice storms that color the landscape white and the trees crystal, and stop everything for a day
My cozy apartment and sitting on my beautiful love seat sofa with my kitty Maggie next to me
Rush Limbaugh and his humor and outrageous self-confidence and speaking abilities
Creating order out of chaos
Babies and small animals
Shopping for well-fitting clothes and color coordinating outfits
Finding things to make life easier and more enjoyable for others
Collecting inspiring articles and ebooks online (I go through printer ink every two weeks)
Questioning authority
I look forward to your newsletter and more communication with you if you like.
Namaste!
Lucille
Hi, Lucille! How wonderful you have such a big “Lights List!” And, of course, you can always add to it as you discover more. Thanks for sharing your List with us; I’m sure it will inspire other women and remind them of some things that light them up.
